WONTONERIA

You know that feeling when you know you fancy something and only Chinese food will do the job? Wontoneria, near the front of Yas Food Hall, is almost a hidden gem, and gave us a ton of good Chinese food feels. We ordered a pot of Chinese tea (jasmine) (essential!) and made our way through a ton of dishes, which varied from good to drool!

If I was in need of a healthy lunch or dinner, the cucumber salad (AED28) would be an absolute must-order. The name is rather ordinary but the crisp, cold, fresh cucumber with lime dressing is so piquant, it's not to be overlooked. I'd follow this with either crispy lettuce cups or a massive bowl of chicken and prawn won tons in the most tasty, clear chicken broth, made with actual chicken! (AD58). This is something you'd order when you're feeling under the weather, or just want something wholesome, comforting and super tasty.

Continuing the strong won-ton game, the soft duck won-tons (love a bit of daytime duck!) on a bed of noodles (AED68) were everyone's favourite dish. The won-tons were massive and made for a really filling and delicious plate and their crispy vege won-ton mates were also plump with filling and gorgeous to eat.

We added a couple more mains to round it off, notably the salt and pepper squid (AED54), (not a massive plate but enough to wet your whistle) and the spicy crispy eggplant (AED35). This was another wolf in sheep's clothing: it's not crazy spicy but is absolutely flavourful, not quite crunchy and fresh. And while the custard buns didn't have the runny centre we're used to, they were equally as tasty - actually completely moreish.

Wontoneria is definitely a must-try if you also feel that Chinese food craving coming on and is a really good option if you're starvalicious in Yas Mall.
