ROUNDUP: THE BEST ROASTS IN DUBAI
THE COTERIE
IBN BATTUTA MALL
Best for: Quality food in a laid back atmosphere
The Super Sunday Roast is one of the most talked about roasts in the city, and there’s a reason for that praise! Their portion size is perfect: enough to leave you full without feeling guilty about wasting extra food. You’ll find potatoes that are crispy and fluffy, succulent meat and gravy with the perfect consistency. However, the stand out for us is the Yorkshire pudding - it may be the best we’ve had in Dubai! The Coterie is buzzing on a Sunday - and no wonder - so it’s best to book in advance.

PHILEAS FOGG’S
MONTGOMERIE GOLF ACADEMY | EMIRATES HILLS
Best for: families
One of the most popular spots on a Sunday to enjoy a roast, Phileas Fogg’s puts up a laid-back roast with great views. With options like pork belly, beef, chicken and vegan, there’s plenty of choices for fussy roast goers, but pork-belly wins our vote - it’s hard to pass up the crispy crackling and soft meat. The Yorkie is huge (and photo-worthy) and the veg all comes in a side dish, mixing it up a little with roasted parsnip, braised cabbage and carrot & swede. With live music, happy hour on all afternoon and a children’s playground, what’s not to love?

THE GUILD
ICD BROOKFIELD PLACE | DIFC
Best for: impressing guests
Feeling fancy? A decadent and luxurious setting that pays homage to New York brasseries, The Guild Sunday roast is one to impress. Three courses for AED250 (plus municipality fees) includes some desert classics, the likes of sticky toffee pudding and apple crumble necessary to save room for! The wood-oven roast potatoes are particularly good - seasoned well and with a satisfying crunch as you bite into them - as is the slow-roasted lamb shoulder (fall-off-the-bone tender) and the lemon and thyme marinated chicken. If you’re looking for a high-quality roast with all the trimmings in a lavish setting, The Guild ticks all the boxes.

THE NINE
SOFITEL DUBAI THE OBELISK | SHEIKH RASHID ROAD
Best for: feeding the whole family
This family-friendly British gastro-pub offers a taste of tradition that’s budget friendly: kids under 5 eat free and children aged 6-12 are half price. The result? A lively, busy Sunday family atmosphere. On the menu is a range of meat - lamb, pork, beef or chicken - or you can push the boat out and tuck into the mixed roast for only AED155. Side dishes are tasty - the cauliflower cheese croquettes are a delicious must-try.

THE BULL AND BEAR
WALDORF ASTORIA | DIFC
Best for: live music
One of the newer roasts on the scene, The Bull and Bear blends the traditional British roast with an American twist: trimmings include a honey butter biscuit and Mac n’ Cheese (a welcome addition to a roast in our opinion!). Choose your own adventure with lamb rack, harissa marinated chicken and premium Angus beef on the roast lineup. Unwind to the chilled singer-guitarist, and make an afternoon out of it with their drinks packages: AED149 for 4 house beverages or AED225 for selected free-flow beverages for 2 hours.

FIRELAKE
RADISSON BLU | DAMAC HILLS
Best for: a laid-back roast
Sunday roast at FireLake is a great option to enjoy a laid-back afternoon with friends and family. The usual suspects of beef and chicken are joined by a vegan option, and all three are excellent - the beef is tender and well-seasoned with a peppery crust. We asked for a top up of extra gravy (I like my roast swimming!) and it was given without charge - tick from us. The accompaniments are well matched and portion size is good. In better weather, enjoy their lovely terrace complete with a children’s play area - smiles for all the family!

DHOW AND ANCHOR
JUMEIRAH BEACH HOTEL | JUMEIRAH BEACH ROAD
Best for: groups of friends.
Available on both days of the weekend, the Weekend Roast at the Dhow and Anchor is a fantastic choice - and why should roasts be restricted to Sunday? From AED125, all the usual meats are available. The beef was particularly impressive - cooked beautifully and seasoned with rock salt, we didn’t leave a bite. With a great view of the iconic Burj Al Arab, a number of screens to catch up on sport and a relaxed atmosphere, the Dhow and Anchor has something for everyone and is a cruisy weekend spot to gather your mates.
